In the Podolsk zoo expect new residents

Unique animals for Ukraine can live here.

Replenishment are waiting with the Košice zoo in Slovakia. The Tatra goats, blue alpacas, European fallow deer, maned rams and the European bison can replenish the collection of the Podolsk zoo.
The management of the Wokslp Vinoblagroles and the Podolsk zoo had previously agreed on the purchase of animals with the Košice colleagues during a working visit to Kosice. Now negotiations between the administrations of zoos continue.
- We expressed what animals we would like to purchase. They will justify everything and give us information, ”said Yevgeny Tkachik, director of the Podolsk zoo, on the progress of the working trip, telling us.
According to him, now we are talking about acquiring a young European bison female, a male and a female of blue alpacas, who were born last year, as well as 3-4 individuals of the European fallow deer.
Yevgeny Tkachik also told that in order to restore the blood of the maned sheep, it is already in the collection of the Podolsk zoo, it is planned to purchase a female and a male born in this year's Košice collection. However, the Vinnytsia collection of Tatra kozits can become unique for Ukraine.
“There are no such animals in any zoo in Ukraine,” said the director of the menagerie. - Their natural habitat is the Tatra Mountains. This is a boy and a girl born in 2018, a couple, which later will give offspring.
The director of the zoo said that the trip to Kosice was very fruitful.
“The more you ride, you see the experience of colleagues, the easier it is to work,” he noted. - This is a positive experience. We saw how our Košice colleagues solve the problems that have arisen with global warming and climate change, how they will be open-air cages, feeders, purify water and use filtration stations.
Yevgeny Mikhailovich notes that the area of the Košice Zoo occupies 86 hectares. This is ten times more than Vinnitsa Zoo. In order to see all the animals, you need to drive a car. The geographical location of the zoo is very successful. It is located in a ravine and on the slopes. A part of its territory enters the forest and Tatra mountains, protecting animals from winds and storms. On the territory of the zoo flow natural streams that originate in the mountains. Such an arrangement creates comfortable conditions for animals, even in conditions of global warming. The European Union takes care of providing animals with food and everything they need. So thinking, how to feed the animals and how to keep the zoo, the administration does not have to.
“Our colleagues from the Košice zoo are very pleased that we are developing, we are upset,” notes Yevgeny Tkachik. - They are interested in our zoo.
When the animals arrive in Vinnitsa, predict early. After the list of animals will be confirmed by Slovak colleagues, Ukrainian veterinarians will provide a list of laboratory tests that animals need to carry out before moving. In addition, it is necessary to conclude an agreement with the broker and the carrier, which must have an appropriate license for the transport of animals. It must meet European standards.
Tatransky Kozits is a subspecies of chamois. This animal is endangered and is listed on the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Therefore, we hope that residents will be able to admire these rare animals.
